Definition of Insurance
Evropská Cestovní Pojišťovna, a. s., provides insurance and help to persons in distress during travelling, including insurance of financial losses incurred directly by travelling (assistance service). More detailed information on insurance may be found in the Section Personal Insurance, Corporate Insurance and in Insurance Conditions.
Period of Cover
The Insurance commences only the day following the insurance contract signature date. The Policy Holder may also take insurance for him/herself on the day of departure by presenting his/her identity card at our registered office. In this case, the Policy shall also state the hour when the Insurance Contract began.
The Insurance provides cover from the time of crossing the border of the Czech Republic, but not before the date stipulated in the Insurance Contract as the beginning of the period of cover. It expires upon crossing the border of the Czech Republic on the way back or on the expiry date stipulated in the Insurance Contract, whichever occurs first.
The Insurance of travel cancellation commences when paying the premium and lasts until the actual start of the journey.
Insurance Contract Expiration
The Insurance Contract expires after the effluction of time for which it was taken out, by an agreement of contracting parties, by failure to pay the premium for the next insurance year (in case of annual insurance for repeated journeys). The insurance also expires by a notice of termination in accordance with Article 22, Act No. 37/2004 Coll., on insurance policies, and by withdrawal from contract in accordance with Article 23, Section 4 to 6 of the quoted Act.
Method and period of payment of premium
The premium shall be paid in full for the entire period of cover (lump sum premium).
Policy Period
An Insurance Contract may be taken out for the number of days corresponding to the duration of a trip abroad, but not for longer than one year. It may, however, be taken out as an annual insurance for frequent journeys. An Insurance Contract becomes valid by the premium settlement, unless agreed otherwise.

Premium Volume
A basic insurance premium depends on the geographic area, for which it is taken out, as well as on the age of the insured and the purpose of the journey. An insurance for single trips is conceived as an insurance for an interval of time (i.e. 1-4 days, 5-10 days, 11-17 days, 18-24 days etc., or 3, 6 and 12 month). A lump sum premium is calculated for a supplementary insurance based on its risk exposure regardless of the period of cover. The annual insurance for frequent trips is rated as an annual premium. The insurance of business trips is rated as insurance per day, unless agreed otherwise.
Avoidance of an Insurance Contract in accordance with Article 23, Sec. 4 to 6 of Act No. 37/2004 Coll., on insurance policies
The Policyholder is entitled to withdraw from an Insurance Contract, which was concluded remotely, in writing and without stating reasons, but within the period of 14 days of concluding the Contract, or from the day when he/she was acquainted with the Insurance Conditions, if he/she was acquainted with these on his/her request after concluding the Contract. This clause should not be applied for travel insurance contracts concluded for less than 1 month.
The Insurer is obliged to, without undue delay, no later than 30 days from the day of a withdrawal from the Insurance Contract, to pay back to the Policyholder a settled premium, from which should be deducted an amount that the Insurer has already compensated; and the Policyholder or an Insured, who is not the Policyholder (or beneficiary) at the same time, is obliged to reimburse the Insurer for the amount of paid compensation exceeding the amount of settled premium within the same period of time.
Minimum Duration of the Insurance Contract
An Insurance Contract may be concluded minimally for one day (a lump sum premium is an interval premium, i.e. 1-4 days, 5-10 days, 11-17 days etc.)
