1907 Budapest – first specialised travel insurer
A businessman named Max von Engel travelled by train and noticed how sparks coming from the steam locomotive stack set on fire several luggages prepared for loading on a platform. And an idea occurred to him – to cover such events by insurance. Hence, the first specialised travel insurance company was established.
1920 – a sistercompanyEvropská Inc. for insuring cargos and tourist luggage was established in Prague.
1947– based on an order by the President of the republic Evropská together with most of other insurance companies is nationalised and its liabilities and accounts are handed over to a newly established First Czechoslovakian Insurance – National Corp.
1993 - Evropská Cestovní Pojišťovna is founded by the leading Danish specialised insurer Europaeiske Rejseforsikring and thus reassumes the interrupted tradition of a company operating in Czechoslovakia already since 1920.
1994 - Evropská Cestovní Pojišťovna is accepted into a prestigious European Travel Insurance Group (ETIG) as the first in the eastern bloc.
1995–Evropská gets new shareholders, German and Austrian insurers Europäische Reiseversicherung through which the company finds itself a majority ownership by the world biggest reinsurer Munich Re.
2002– Evropská opens its own assistance centralEUROALARM in Prague providing assistance services to Czech, Slovakian, Polish and other Eastern European clients.
2006– Evropská establishes its own daughter company Etics ITP s.r.o., which operates as an insurance broker and an independent claims handler of insurance events.

Today, Evropská Cestovní Pojišťovna is the only specialised travel insurer on the Czech market.
